Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior official commented the attack left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
